The skies are mostly clear and the temperatures vary from 6 degrees celsius at night to 15C degrees during the day. It will include a detailed itinerary, arrival and departure information, a suggested packing list, useful country information and more. Trip Itinerary, Details + Important Trip Notes are below. Weavers use available natural resources to dye the yarns. You will also participate in a natural dye workshop. This course will provide a general overview of the weaving process starting from the rolling of yarns, preparation of the warp, setting the warp on the loom, and use of different weaving equipment (back-strap loom) and weaving tools. We will visit the Royal Textile Museum and you will be a part of the backstrap loom class. ![]() ![]() Bhutan is a mountainous country with each region producing a traditional pattern, design, and colors in their weaving. Families kept their wealth in woven fabric. The art of weaving has been closely tied to religion and ceremony, the designs are regional and have been passed down from mother to daughter through the generations. For centuries the Bhutanese have been weaving and wearing beautiful textiles. You will meet with local weavers and try your hand at dyeing and weaving your own textile projects through various hands-on workshops as well as enchanting cultural visits. The production of textiles is woven through the culture and history of this remote country. This Ace Camp will explore the elaborate woven textiles of the kingdom of Bhutan. ![]()
